Tover Idrofondo H20 Wood Floor Primer - Why use

Most water based floor lacquers are way more expensive than the primers. By sealing the wood floor with a primer you will reduce the amount of lacquer needed to fully seal the floor while creating a smoother finish. The primer will penetrate the wood fast, it will seal all the pores and it will create a perfect base for further coatings.

Tover Idrofondo H20 Wood Floor Primer - How to use

You need to assess the wood surface. If the surface is sealed with some type of lacquer or oil, you will need to sand it and expose the wood. The primer has to penetrate the wood in full. Sand the floor well until all pre-existing finishes are fully removed. Finish the floor with 100 grit sandpaper before applying the primer. Using a small varnishing brush apply 1 thin coat of floor primer all around the edges and areas where a varnishing roller cannot fit. For the larger areas use a professional varnishing roller. Apply enough wood primer to create a wet surface without over soaking the wood. Allow about 2-3 hours to dry and then re-sand the whole floor with 150 grit sandpaper. By doing so, you remove all rough surfaces and excess primer. Vacuum the floor one more time and now you are ready for varnishing / lacquering. You can use any single pack or two pack floor lacquer from Tover, Carver or Bona. Apply at least 2 coats of lacquer.

The new Tover Idrofondo H20 Wood Floor Primer is a great quality wood floor primer that will help you achieve great results and it will save you money. The product is ready to use and it does not require dilution. It is essential to respect the sanding process step by step. Sand the surface with 40 grit sandpaper, then move to 60 grit sandpaper, then move to 80 grit sandpaper & then move to 100 grit sandpaper. Also, make sure to sand the primer after it has dried. Do not worry about removing some of the primer. The primer has penetrated the wood and it has sealed all the pores. You will only remove excess product and the rough patches.
